What is ReportBox?

 

• ReportBox is a Web based reporting solution that can be used by any software application to generate documents and reports in Microsoft Word/ Excel/ PowerPoint/ HTML(DocX/Xlsx/PPTx/HTML).

• The process starts by building a Microsoft Word/ Excel/ PowerPoint/ HTML document as a template and uploading to ReportBox portal.  Your application either sends data to ReportBox or ReportBox can pull data from your application database, which is then merged with the template to produce the finished report.

• ReportBox is built on .Net technology. ReportBox is available as a set of dll’s which natively allows integration with any .Net application. ReportBox also provides Web API's to integrate this product with any application built in a different technology such as Java, Php etc.

• ReportBox is secured by SecureBox, which authenticates and authorizes users.

 

What are the uses of ReportBox?

 

• ReportBox makes creating documents and reports faster and easier.

• ReportBox Templates can be created using Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint/HTML.  This allows non-developers to actively contribute to the report design and layout process.

• Placeholders can be added by generating merge fields (e.g.: <<Patient_Name>>) in ReportBox portal and copying them into your report template. There is no need to install, learn or use any extra plug-ins.

• ReportBox allows integration with almost any application built in any technology.

• ReportBox has been engineered to be highly scalable for optimum memory usage and distributed load processing.

• ReportBox can generate reports in synchronous or asynchronous mode.

How fast is ReportBox?

 

• Document rendering traditionally has always been a resource intensive process due to InterOp/ COM based conversion. However ReportBox has addressed the issue by allowing OpenXML based conversion.

• The result is that on a typical desktop PC (Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.10 GHz, 3 GB RAM), documents are typically produced at the burst rate of 30 documents per second by the XML engine.

• ReportBox is highly scalable and can be deployed in multiple servers, which means that documents can be concurrently processed at incredible speeds.

What format(s) can my report templates be in?

 

Report Templates can be authored in Microsoft Word – DocX , Excel - Xlsx format, PowerPoint - Pptx format and HTML format.

 

 

What format(s) can I produce my reports in?

ReportBox can generate documents in Microsoft Word DocX, Xlsx, PptX and HTML formats. 

 

 

How do I create a report template?

 

A report template is just a normal document which you can create, edit and update using either Microsoft Office or Open Office tools. Each time a template is modified, it must be uploaded to ReportBox to make it available for processing. Inserting merge fields into the template means the document can be populated with dynamic content when processed.

How does ReportBox work?

 

The ReportBox engine uses .Net technology to parse OpenXML based Word/ Excel/ PowerPoint templates and does not require Microsoft Office Word/Excel/ PowerPoint to be installed on the server for report generation.

 

 

Is ReportBox configurable?

 

Yes, ReportBox is configurable and the configuration is quite simple.You only need to define report data source connections, create business entities, create templates, configure printers and. You will also need to set-up user access to the portal.

 

 

Is ReportBox scalable?

 

ReportBox is a highly scalable report generation solution which enables massive number of reports to be generated concurrently.
